An energy-minimized structure of an agonist for the galanin receptors. The molecule consists of a flat, rigid platform and 3 groups that are presented on the same face of the platform. The molecule was synthesized in the laboratory of J. Rebek, Ph.D., the Skaggs Institute, and tested in the laboratory of T. Bartfai, Ph.D., Department of Neuropharmacology. The agonist crosses the brain barrier and is active in controlling experimentally induced epileptic seizures.
