CLARIFICATION AND ELABORATION TO ST. PETERSBURG TIMES STORY OF JANUARY 28, 2005 “SCRIPPS TO HANDLE SPINOFFS OUT WEST”

Dr. Lerner was talking about the short-term arrangements for technology transfer. At this point and perhaps until our labs are permanently situated, there is not sufficient tech transfer work to sustain a separate office in Florida.

As soon as there is evidence that the Scripps Florida labs are producing enough technology to warrant and maintain a tech transfer office at our site in Florida, it will be established. A team of legal and business experts will staff that office, as they do in our La Jolla tech transfer office.

A tech transfer operation at our site in Florida is an integral part of our business plan. We look forward to providing significant opportunities for investment in our discoveries in Florida.
