The Stem Cells & Aging Symposium at UC Santa Cruz addresses underexplored areas of investigation at the intersection of stem cell biology and aging: aging and the stem cell niche, insights on aging from the embryo, aging of tissue-specific stem cells, and epigenetics and aging.

Judith Campisi, Buck Institute for Research on Aging, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory
Stem cells and their environment: promises and challenges of regenerative medicine
Widely recognized for her work on cellular senescence, Campisi has recently been investigating the effect of this process on adult stem cells. She has received numerous awards, most recently the 2010 Longevity prize from the IPSEN Foundation.
