Kresge Library for Green Hospital & Scripps Clinic

Remote Access to e-journals and Databases

Off-campus access to e-journals and databases provided by the Kresge Library is available for Physicians and staff at Green Hospital and Scripps Clinics by way of remote authentication via a proxy server.

In order to use the proxy server to access e-journals remotely, you must register for an ILLiad account and have your status verified by library staff during normal business hours.

If you already have an ILLiad account, log in to the proxy server as follows:

Your proxy username = ILLiad username that you created
Your proxy password = your six-digit corporate ID.

First-time ILLiad users must register at http://scripps.hosts.atlas-sys.com/illiad/logon.html.
Click on the orange link, "First time users register here".

Do not use your corporate ID as your ILLiad username; however, you may wish to use your corporate ID as your ILLiad password because it will automatically be used as your proxy server password.

You can change your current ILLiad password to your corporate ID if you wish, by logging into ILLiad and choosing "Change Password" on the left menu. If you do not remember your ILLiad username or password, or if you wish to change your ILLiad login name, please contact Library staff for assistance at 858-784-8705 or send an email to helplib@scripps.edu.

To access journals remotely, you must use the SFX@Green button :

1. The SFX@Green button is embedded in the PubMed & Ovid versions of the Medline database. The button appears in PubMed abstracts and in Ovid's search results.

Note: Do not use the default Internet Explorer 6 when searching PubMed. You need to use Firefox, or a newer version of IE. Contact IS at 858-678-7500 and put in a request to get the browser updated or to install an alternate browser.

Medline via OVID, at OVID at http://http://ovidsp.ovid.com
From off campus, Ovid requires its own login and password (separate from the proxy login). To request an Ovid account, please contact Library staff at 858-784-8705 or send an email to helplib@scripps.edu.

Clicking on the SFX@Green button will open the SFX menu window:

If you are connecting from off campus, through the Scripps Health wireless, or a computer that is not recognized as Green Hospital or Scripps Clinic, you will be directed to the Proxy login screen below:

Use your ILLiad username as the proxy username and use your corporate ID as your proxy password. If you continue searching, the system will remember you, and you should not have to log in again until you close the browser.

2. The SFX@Green button is also embedded in the Journal List at http://sfxhosted.exlibrisgroup.com/green/az
Use this alphabetical list to identify journals that the Library subscribes to on your behalf.

If there is more than one source of access for the journal, or if you click on the SFX@Green button for a particular journal, you will see the SFX menu.

You can add the year, volume, issue, or start page to go directly to the article. Or simply click the title or "Get full text through" link to go to the journal's homepage.

If you are connecting from off campus or via the Scripps Health wireless, you will be directed to log in to the proxy server as described in the previous instructions.
