Duties & Responsibilities: Scripps Florida is seeking a
highly motivated Postdoctoral researcher interested in fungal
genomics to work on the annotation and analysis of genome sequence
data of Chrysosporium lucknowense C1. The genome sequencing
project on this fungus has been completed and a full scale annotation
project has begun to identify and describe the genes of this commercially
important fungal species.
The Postdoctoral fellow will be responsible for the interpretation
of the sequence data, mining and curation of resultant data, as well
as preparing gene expression profiles that are incorporated into databases.
He/she will prepare data for utilization by other scientists within
defined timeframes and will be expected to present data at weekly and
scientific meetings.
The successful candidate will be located in the Informatics Division
at Scripps Florida (Jupiter, Florida) and will be expected to collaborate
with scientists from Dyadic International, Inc.
Requirements: Qualified candidates should have a Ph.D. in Molecular
Biology/ Microbial Genetics or Computational Biology. Familiarity with
scripting languages is required. Preference will be given to candidates

Duties & Responsibilities: A postdoctoral position is available
to study regulation of the fibrinolytic system and its role in neurological
function. The fibrinolytic system uses plasmin to degrade blood clots
and also to generate protease activity for cell migration. Thrombotic
diseases are the leading cause of death in the United States. The success
candidate will study the function of cellular plasminigen receptors
and the role of the plasminogen system in neurological functions.

position at the Harold L. Dorris Neurological Research Institute is

The successful candidate will work within a research group on the receptor-ligand
interactions and on intracellular signaling of the neuropeptide galanin
(involved in Major Dpression, Schizophrenia, cognition and seizure control)
or of the proinflammatory cytokine Interleukin 1. We study both transcription
dependent and transcription independent signaling mechanisms, and routinely
use DNA chipping to examine transcriptional changes and subsequently
follow up expression of gene products in various functional, physiological
and behavioral tests. The work will employ biochemical, molecular biological
(mutagensis, polymorphisms, and transgenics) and cell biological techniques,
and acute and chronic methods of neuropharmacology and immunopharmacology,
and will be supported by ongoing work in the laboratory by electrophysiologists,
morphologists, and behvaioral scientists.
The unique opportunity arises from the close collaboration within the
same lab of all of these disciplines required for a deep understanding
