1. When am I eligible for COBRA continuation coverage?

COBRA is offered to employees when a qualifying event occurs such as termination of employment. Benefits will continue through the end of the month in which the employee terminates. The employee is eligible for COBRA on the first of the following month. Other qualifying events include divorce and dependents ceasing to be eligible due to age or full-time student status. For a more complete list of qualifying events, visit qualified status changes definitions.

2. How do I elect COBRA?

COBRA notification letters are sent to employees when a qualifying event occurs. Notifications include a COBRA Election Form, which should be completed and sent to Tri-Ad, the administrator.

3. How long after a qualifying event do I have to elect COBRA?

You have 60 days to elect COBRA from the later of:
* Loss of coverage date
* Date of COBRA notice

4. What benefits can I continue to have?

Medical coverage (including vision, prescription, and mental health), dental coverage, and the TSRI Employee Assistance Plan may be continued. Employees may also elect to continue their Health Care Spending Account through the end of the plan year on COBRA.

5. Will my benefits be the same on COBRA?

Employees will pay a monthly premium to TSRI to continue the same health coverage they had prior to COBRA.
