Instructions for Installing Webcam Software
When you attempt to view the Webcam for the first time, you may be asked to install an ActiveX control which is provided by the camera manufacturer (http://www.axis.com). Only users of Microsoft Internet Explorer will require the ActiveX control installed, while the image will display in Firefox, Netscape, Opera or Safari without ActiveX [Axis video products are mainly tested with Internet Explorer 6.x on Windows XP, 2000 but other browsers and operating systems may also work].
If you are using Internet Explorer, the ActiveX installer window may be blocked by a pop-up blocker. Be sure to temporarily disable all pop-up blockers before installing the ActiveX component.
Enabling Javascript
If you have problems viewing the Webcam from any browser, you may require Javascript enabled in your browser. Please use caution when enabling Javascript as it may make your computer more vulnerable to viruses, Trojans and other malware. We suggest that if you enable Javascript to view the Webcam, you disable it afterwards.

| Note to AOL 4.0 & 5.0 users |
When using the use AOL browser, you may get a Javascript error but, when using an external browser (i.e., Netscape or Internet Explorer) this does not occur. AOL uses compressed graphics by Default. This doesn't allow Java to work while browsing inside AOL. (Additionally, this makes photos you view on web pages look less than optimal.)
Do the following:
- Click My AOL.
- Click Preferences.
- Click the WWW icon.
- Click Web Graphics tab.
- Uncheck the box next to Use Compressed Graphics.
- Click OK Restart the computer.
Note that there are both 16-bit and 32-bit versions of AOL 4.0. Only the 32-bit version has full Java capabilities. |
