High Throughput Screening (HTS) Core

Submission Overview

To utilize the Scripps Florida High Throughput Screening (HTS) Core Facilities, please download an HTS Core Submission Document. Below are directions on how to fill out the information in the form. Once you have completed the form, please E-mail it to Access@scripps.edu.

Scripps Florida will work diligently with successful Access to Technology applicants; however, scheduling of HTS core services will be subject to prior commitments.

HTS Core Submission Document Instructions

Project Title: Name of the proposed project

HTS Quick Summary: Please succinctly identify the following information in the space provided.

  1. Target name (e.g. human muscarinic receptor 1, AKT-1, etc.)
  2. Target class (e.g. GPCR, serine-threonine kinase, etc.)
  3. Pharmacology probed (i.e. agonist, antagonist, inhibitor, potentiator, activator, other). Note: Only one pharmacology can be chosen per submission.
  4. Assay type (i.e. biochemical, live cell-based, other). Note: No uHTS campaigns involving live bacteria, yeast or mammalian cells requiring greater than BSL-1 precautions can be performed at this time.
  5. Current detection technology (luminescence, fluorescence, absorbance, time-resolved fluorescence, none investigated, other.). Note: No uHTS campaigns involving radioactivity can be performed at this time.
  6. Protocol format (homogeneous, heterogeneous)
  7. The current assay format (i.e. in vitro, 96-well plate, 384-well plate, other microtiter plate, none of the above)
  8. Whether positive and negative controls are available (both available, none available, positive only, negative only)

Field 1: Background and Specific Aims. Describe the biological significance and objectives of the proposed HTS project. Please include how access to this technology will facilitate your ability to obtain funding and reach your publication goals. (400 words)

Field 2, Section A: HTS Assay Materials. Provide an itemized list of material(s) and their source(s) to be supplied to the HTS Core to enable execution of the proposed project.

Field 2, Section B:  HTS Assay Methods. Describe your generalized assay protocol and assay development activities to date, including published references. Additionally, attach detailed information on the current assay protocol itself: this includes, but is not limited to: reagent preparation protocols, initial and final reagent concentrations, catalog numbers of all commercially available reagents, and detector type and detector settings. Also attach a sample data file (and summarization of results) where a dose-response titration of the positive control(s) is clearly visible. If there are any known liabilities associated with the assay (safety concerns, reagent stability, small assay window, etc.) please identify. (500 words)

Field 3:  Grants, Collaborations, and Funding. List all 3rd party collaborators (and their affiliations) who are or will be involved with the proposed project.  In addition, indicate the source of funding that will be used to support the proposed project.

HTS Core Submission and Assay Development Process

  1. Complete and submit the HTS Core Submission Document to Scripps Florida (Access@scripps.edu or Fax: (561) 799-8452).
  2. An internal review of the request will be conducted by Scripps Florida scientists.
  3. Once the Scripps Florida reviewers have made a decision concerning the request, an e-mail notification will be sent to the requestor regarding the status and, if appropriate, scheduling information. In some cases, Scripps Florida reviewers may require additional details.
  4. If your request is selected, your institution will be sent the appropriate agreements to be completed before Scripps Florida can accept materials and begin your project.
