Scripps Florida Network for Women in Science

The Scripps Florida Network for Women in Science was established to help build a sense of community among the women at Scripps Florida, to network and receive support, and to create a place for discourse on women’s issues (balancing career and family, selecting a career path, etc.).

NWIS hosts monthly “Coffee Chats,” designed as informal opportunities to interact with established female researchers and life science professionals, or to benefit from professional development seminars and workshops that can help inform and guide one’s scientific career.

The group meets every 2nd Tuesday of the month, from 4:00 – 5:00 p.m. in B158 on the Scripps Florida campus. Examples of past gathering topics include: Networking 101, Ideas for Non-traditional Careers in the Life Sciences, Meet the PI, Balancing Work and Family, Best Practices in Social Networking, Holiday Potlucks, and Yoga Classes.

For more information or to offer ideas for future gatherings, contact Briana Weiser bweiser@scripps.edu or Christine Crumbly CCrumble@scripps.edu.
