Introduction to Science

Introduction to ScienceIntroduction to Science is a lesson and hands-on exercise designed to teach a middle school class about our world, what it's made of and how it works. Although It is a chemistry-based lesson, it demonstrates the fundamental ties among the four basic sciences: math, chemistry, physics and biology.

This presentation is typically 45 to 60 minutes long and is performed at the requesting school by one or two Scripps Florida scientists. Curriculum is designed for students in grades five or six. Each Introduction to Science presentation can accommodate a single class of up to 30 students.


Eligibility and Registration


Registration for Introduction to Science presentations is open to classroom teachers only. As with all Education Outreach programs offered by Scripps Florida, Introduction to Science is presented free of charge, but program dates are extremely limited and offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Because of this, we recommend that all requests be submitted at least 30 to 60 days in advance.

To request an Introduction to Science presentation, click on the registration link above, complete the request form and select a date you are interested in. Once submitted, your request will be reviewed and an Education Outreach representative will contact you as soon as possible.
