InSPIRE Teacher Workshops

Palm Beach County high school science teachers are invited to take part in this unique professional development workshop at Scripps Florida.

Scripps Florida InSPIRE (Instructional Support Program for Innovative Research Education), was developed to meet Scripps Florida's goal of Photo of Teacher Workshop participants touring Scripps Florida labs.addressing the needs of science teachers by providing opportunities to strengthen laboratory skills, build confidence, and network with fellow teachers and Scripps scientists - all in a supportive and engaging environment.
 

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS

  • Refresh science skills and build confidence with three days of hands-on laboratory experience in basic chemistry and biology.
  • Content presented by Scripps Florida scientists and fellow science teachers who have taken part in Scripps Florida internships and programs.
  • Tour Scripps Florida laboratories and learn about the
    cutting-edge biomedical research taking place right here in Palm Beach County.
  • Receive classroom-ready curriculum.
  • Program participants can borrow portable
    research equipment for use in the classroom.
  • Participants are invited to return for bimonthly meetings and workshops with scientists.
  • Participants have ongoing access to Scripps scientists via Scientist-Educator Link, a weekly, web-based Q&A forum.
  • Participants are paid an hourly stipend.

Interested teachers should contact Wendy Spielman King at the School District of Palm Beach County (Department of K-12 Curriculum) to reserve a space at an upcoming workshop.
