College students from undergraduate institutions in Florida and across the country may find opportunities to perform research in the laboratories of Scripps Florida during the summer or in some cases, during the school year.
The Scripps Research Institute’s Summer Undergraduate Research Fellows (SURF) program is open to college students interested in opportunites to work in the field of biomedical research. Students can apply to either the Florida or California campus. The ten-week program, designed to provide research experience and mentorship for undergraduates, is run simultaneously with the Scripps Florida Kenan Fellows program. Students from the two undergraduate intern programs present their research at a competitive poster session. Information and an application can be found online at the above link.
Scripps Florida’s Kenan Fellows Undergraduate Summer Research Program is an intensive, ten-week internship designed to provide research experience and mentorship for undergraduate students who have previously completed the Kenan Fellows high school student summer internship program at Scripps Florida. Each summer, Kenan Fellows, under the guidance of a faculty member, are offered an opportunity to work on a research project and present their findings at a competitive poster session.
College undergraduate students looking for research experience during the school year may find opportunities with individual faculty, conditional on the availability of laboratory space and funding. Summaries of research interests of our Scripps Florida faculty can be found using the faculty directory. Please contact faculty members directly if you have any questions or are interested in their research. Internships of this type are not affiliated with the two sponsored summer programs listed above.
Occasionally, additional internship opportunities are posted on our general employment page: http://careers.scripps.edu.
