Undergraduate Research Opportunities

photo of undergraduate internsScripps Florida’s Kenan Fellows Undergraduate Summer Research Program is an intensive, ten-week internship designed to provide research experience and mentorship for undergraduate students who have previously completed the Kenan Fellows high school student summer internship program at Scripps Florida.  Each summer, Kenan Fellows, under the guidance of a faculty member, are offered an opportunity to work on a research project and present their findings at a competitive poster session.  For interested Kenan Fellows, contact the Scripps Florida Education Office for information and an application.

The Scripps Research Institute’s Summer Undergraduate Research Fellows (SURF) program is open to students interested in opportunites to work in the field of biomedical research.  Students can apply to either the Florida or California campuses.  The ten-week program, designed to provide research experience and mentorship for undergraduates, is run simultaneously with the Scripps Florida Kenan Fellows program.  Students from the two undergraduate intern programs present their findings at a bi-coastal competitive poster session.  Information and an application can be found online at the above link.

Other Undergraduate Research Opportunities

Undergraduate students from academic institutions in Florida or elsewhere may find opportunities to perform research in the laboratories of Scripps Florida faculty, conditional on the availability of laboratory space and funding. Summaries of research interests of our Scripps Florida faculty can be found using the faculty directory.
