Postdoctoral Training

Postdoctoral appointments at The Scripps Research Institute are designed to enhance trainees’ professional skills and research independence while they generate new ideas and publish research results.  Under the guidance of accomplished investigators, hundreds of Scripps Research postdoctoral trainees solve challenging scientific problems that impact human health.

The institute offers a wide variety of resources and support services to assist postdoctoral researchers during their temporary appointments:

  • The Career & Postdoctoral Services website has a wealth of resources on different careers, information about numerous on-campus professional development workshops, links for alumni networking, and downloadable content from previous career seminars. The site includes information for new postdoctoral scholars, including tools for planning and structuring an effective training experience.

  • Experts in the International Office are available to welcome, support, and advise foreign national scholars on visa-related issues.

  • The Society of Fellows is a nonprofit, all-volunteer organization designed to encourage both professional and social exchange. The organization sponsors visiting lectures, informal networking events, and an annual research symposium.  Other active groups on the La Jolla, California campus include ScrippsAssists, Toastmasters, and the Network for Women in Science.

See postdoctoral training at Scripps Florida for information specific to the research experience at Scripps Research’s Jupiter, Florida campus.
