2017 Back-to-School Backback Drive -- July 18 to August 4


ScrippsAssists will delivered backpacks filled with school supplies to long-time community partner Home Start for delivery to San Diego children whose families struggle simply to put food on the table. 
We need generous donors to provid backpacks and much-needed school supplies.
Launched 7/18, end 8/4 per Home Start request due to start of school for some students on 8/15.

SD Humane Society Fur Ball Gala -- Saturday, September 9

Now in its 31st year, the Fur Ball gala is attended by passionate and engaged animal lovers from throughout San Diego County.

SD Food Bank Blues festival -- Saturday, September 9

It had a simple mission to provide great blues music at an affordable price, and raise money to support the battle against hunger in our community.

Need about 15 volunteers from 10:00a-6:00p

7th annual chiefs` party in the paddock -- Saturday, October 14

ScrippsAssists is proud to continue our partnership with the Burn Institute for a fun Western themed fundraiser benefiting the Burn Institute’s fire and burn prevention education and burn survivor support programs, including Camp Beyond the Scars for burn-injured children. Join us for the 7th Annual Chiefs’ Party in the Paddock on Saturday, October 14, 2017.

We need a few more volunteers to help at the Party in the Paddock featuring a festive cocktail party with silent auction, gourmet food stations and hosted bar. The evening will end with an exciting live auction and live entertainment. Snacks and dinner will be provided for volunteers

Location: Del Mar Paddock at Del Mar Fairgrounds
Shifts needed: 2 volunteers, 2:30-10:00p 
 2 volunteers, 4:00-10:00p
Assignment:  Set-up, silent auction, clean-up and various duties as needed
Dress Code: Classy western wear (cowboy boots and hats are welcome), or blouse/button up shirt and slacks are requested; no shorts, jeans, t-shirts or flip-flops please. Comfortable shoes are highly recommended and take into consideration that the event is on grassy and uneven surfaces. Also, sunscreen and a light sweater or jacket is recommended as the event is outdoors.

• Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Light the Night Walk -- Saturday, November 4

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Light The Night Walk funds treatments that are saving the lives of patients today.

• SD Food Bank Run for the Hungry -- Thursday, November 23

ScrippsAssists run for the hungry with the SD Food Bank on Thanksgiving morning.

Run for the Hungry has remained a fun family tradition on Thanksgiving Day for the past 16 years. Plus, it is a great way to get outside and burn a few calories before indulging in your favorite holiday dishes. Plus, for every participant, at least 185 meals will be raised through each runner’s race fee to help individuals and families in need.

A great opportunity to get amazing holiday gifts of homemade and handmade items from fellow employees AND support our on-campus charitable efforts through ScrippsAssists!

• 1st Annual American Cancer Society San Diego 5K -- Sunday, December 10

Join our ScrippsAssists members for the fight against cancer with the American Cancer Society on Sunday, December 10th at 7:00 a.m.  It is about the first 5K run organised by ACS in the Gaslamp in downtown San Diego. But as the ACS reminds us, its not how fast you go, but the difference you make which is important!
