The following are special event projects with ScrippsAssists community partners. Be sure to check Ongoing Volunteer Opportunities for regularly scheduled ScrippsAssists activities serving the San Diego community. • Home Start at their 10th Annual Hallo-WIne Festival -- Saturday, October 28

This annual event, held in recognition of National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, raises much-needed funds for Home Start`s programs: https://home-start.org/hallo-wine-fall-festival/

ScrippsAssists volunteers will be helping with the Silent Auction during the event from 2-6:30pm.

Christmas at the Barn at Poway Countryside Barn – Need 2 volunteers each shift each day, 9:30a-2:15p, 2:15-7:00p to accept food donations in exchange for raffle tickets.

• Mama`s Kitchen PIE IN THE SKY bake sale -- Until Sunday, November 19

The ScrippsAssists Mama's Kitchen PIE IN THE SKY Bake Sale is now open! Get your delicious Thanksgiving pies by ordering online by Midnight, November 19th and pick them up here at TSRI on Wednesday, November 22.
Every dollar from your pie order will allow Mama’s Kitchen to cook, prepare and deliver 8 nutritious meals to men, women, and children living with the debilitating effects of AIDS or cancer.
Each pie costs $25 - choices are: Traditional Apple, Dutch Apple, Pumpkin, Pecan, or Love-A-Client Raffle Pie. $15 of each edible pie purchased is tax-deductible; $25 (100%) of each Love-A-Client donated pie is tax-deductible.


To place your order, go to our TSRI/ScrippsAssists Team page at: http://mamaspies.org/mypage.cfm?ID=3761) Click on BUY PIES FROM ME
2) Enter the number of each of your pie selections, click Continue
3) Scroll down and Click on PICK UP AT PRIVATE LOCATION; enter location number 51 and location name TSRI, click Continue. If you can't make the pie delivery at TSRI, pies can be picked up at at a participating Wells Fargo branch on Wednesday or at Mama's Kitchen on Tuesday - just select this option when purchasing your pies.
4) Enter your billing and payment information then click PURCHASE YOUR PIES. That’s it - your holiday pie making is done!
 

Pies are baked generously by San Diegos pastry chefs, caterers and bakeries.

If you can't make the pie delivery at TSRI, pies can be picked up at at a participating Wells Fargo branch on Wednesday or at Mama's Kitchen on Tuesday (just select this option when purchasing your pies).

Help us to prepare the Run for the hungry at Road Runner Sports in Kearny Mesa.

ScrippsAssists need:

- 12 volunteers to stuff bags from 11a-3p,

- 20 volunteers for race registration from 3-7p.

• SD Food Bank Run for the Hungry -- Thursday, November 23

ScrippsAssists run for the hungry with the SD Food Bank on Thanksgiving morning.

Need 4-5 volunteers for Food Bank tent taking collections

Run for the Hungry has remained a fun family tradition on Thanksgiving Day for the past 16 years. Plus, it is a great way to get outside and burn a few calories before indulging in your favorite holiday dishes. Plus, for every participant, at least 185 meals will be raised through each runner’s race fee to help individuals and families in need.

• Epilepsy Foundation Gingerbread City Gala -- Tuesday, November 28

Need new project lead for Epilepsy Foundation event starting with the annual Gingerbread City Gala. The volunteer shift would be from 4:00-9:00pm at the Fairmont Grand Del Mar.

• 1st Annual American Cancer Society San Diego 5K -- Sunday, December 10

Join our ScrippsAssists members for the fight against cancer with the American Cancer Society on Sunday, December 10th at 7:00 a.m.  It is about the first 5K run organised by ACS in the Gaslamp in downtown San Diego. But as the ACS reminds us, its not how fast you go, but the difference you make which is important!
